Saying "Hello!" to you was the best thing that has ever happened to me recently.
I guess God's really using you. Just today, I was lamenting about how I haven't gone for CF, or that I've technically been avoiding prayer meetings because I just... didn't want to go for that, that I was just... drifting away from God.
And then I say 'hello', and we talk about college, and you talk about your renewed faith. And then you talk about various blessings you have heard, seen or experienced.
I remembered the story about my Aunt and her Cross, my grandfather, and you told me about how God was always there to help your family.
And I know.
I've been worrying about college and university and how, what if my dreams are not achieved? And I've been getting many (many) signs from God saying that He'll always be there with me, I have nothing to be worried about, everything will go according to plan...
When I have the courage, I'll tell you what you have done for me. Thank you. :)

I don't know if I have mentioned this, but my sister got my Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta (2008) for me when she got back (Yay!). I went from liking it, to not liking it (because now it seems that every case is ALL ABOUT SCARPETTA. Yes, I know she's the protagonist of the series, but that doesn't mean EVERY suspect wants a bit of her), to thinking that "Ah, well, it's the same with CSI NY and Mac - I love him, but everything shouldn't be about him", to liking it again, not liking it, and loving the ending.
As I read through, there were some stuff that amused me...
- Scarpetta's birthday is June 12, same as Edmond. LOL - One of the characters studied in Cornell. - Jaime Beger - the DA in the story - studied in Columbia - Scarpetta did law in Georgetown - Old news - Lucy loves Ferraris. Maybe if Patricia Cornwell drove an Audi...
Oh, also... Ms Ng was hilarious during ESL yesterday. We were talking about the short story and somehow went to the topic about kids/babies/innocence because I was saying that David's innocence was sacrificed, and she was like, "BABIES? ARE EVIL. THEY ARE THE GREATEST MANIPULATORS EVER"
I totally agree with that statement, by the way. Think about it? Those eyes, that inherent lack of ability to fend for themselves... The crying 'til you appease them...
I want to laugh out loud.
I want to cry.
I need to get out of the library.
And just go for a walk.
PS. The girl beside me's coughing. I'd best get out of here.

Took the career quiz thingamajig in college today, and I am happy to say that...
POLITICAL SCIENCE IS UP THERE. And Biology. Hahahaha.
Anyhow, the counsellor was telling me how I could do Political Science - the one involved in Econs; Policy-making and such, so that sounds totally cool with me. Other Zone 5 (Postgrad courses) choices include technical writing, psychiatry/psychology, Maths (Well, that's only because Maths/Chem and BIO are grouped together), Biology and Industrial-Organizational psychology (No idea what THAT is)
Zone 4 (Degree courses) was a bit more interesting - bringing me back to what I used to want to do - History. The job choices are to be a historian, curator, reporter/correspondent (Aw, journalism! I totally forgot about that!), Clinical psychologist, anthropologist, poet & lyricist (O_o), archeologist, architect (except landscape and naval), creative writer, music arranger/orchestrator, educational psychologist and physician assistant.
That just... brings me back to my pre-BioMed choices of History/Archeology, Journalism and Architecture. Also a backup - creative writing.
Anyhow, seems that Humanities IS the way to go, so that's where I'd be aiming.
I need to get home before Yenn Ling comes over - I'll finish my ESL essay first...

What a way to end the first half of the year - with all my buddies!
Min Shen messaged me last night, asking if she could come over today, and I said 'OKAY!'
THEN I REMEMBERED THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE COUNSELLOR'S WITH FELICITY AT 3PM, so I messaged Min Shen that, YOU KNOW, WEDNESDAY WOULD BE A BETTER IDEA.
But I messaged her regular number (Which she wasn't using at that time) AND SHE DIDN'T GET MY MESSAGE.
SO THERE I WAS, IN THE COUNSELLOR'S OFFICE WITH FELI, HER FRIEND AND YIH SHAN, WHEN MY SISTER CALLS ME.
"MIN SHEN IS HERE, YOU KNOW" "WHUT? WHUT? WHERE WHEN OH NOES"
Anyway, so Li Hsien's mum (Who was with Yih Shan's mum) came to pick us up from college, and drove us to my place, and so there was a small party of us not partying, then Jen came! I'd want to use the word 'trifecta' for the heck of it, but there were 4 of us, so 'quadfecta' would have to do.
Yes I made that word up.

So I was halfway through typing a rather long post when my browser failed.
Anyway, went down to Singapore for a short trip, had dinner with family, which was awesome. 4th Aunt drove us to town for dinner (Carpool. Save the environment!) in her convertible, heeee. Not very comfortable squashing one's self at the back of a convertible, but it's a convertible, I'm not complaining. It's my second time in that car, anyhow. Hahaha. And in the car, we were talking about uni's and stuff, she was asking if I've started my applications yet ("So early?") and I was telling her that I'm most definitely not retaking SAT I, but probably going to push on with SAT II anyway and still apply for Cornell and Georgetown, which lead to the best reply I've ever heard.
4th Aunt: WHAT ABOUT COLUMBIAAAAAAAAAAAA~? Me: UH... YALAH, STILL GOING TO TRY, BUT, YOU KNOW, HOPES KINDA CRUSHED HERE 4th Aunt: You MUST GET INTO COLUMBIAAAAAAA! THEN YOU CAN BE WITH YOUR COUSIN, AND THE BOTH OF YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER Me: O_o
Anyway, I'm still going to push on with Columbia - NOT GOING TO GIVE UP! There was this random segment on the radio this morning (Singapore radio's like that) where they were talking about how quitters never win, and winners never quit, and winners win because they don't quit and quitters lose because they didn't even try. I believe that God has everything planned out, AND I'M NOT GOING TO QUIT. NO, I AM NOT. NOT WHEN I STILL HAVE A CHANCE, NO MATTER HOW SMALL.
I love how this trip to Singapore has REINSTATED MY VIGOUR.
SO, BACK TO DINNER. I was talking with Cousin about Real Duck and Fake Duck and then we proceeded on to saying duck in Cantonese ("Ngaaaap") and chicken ("gai") and quail and turkey ("Fo gai", as in, 'fire chicken'. We decided it was better used as profanity. "YOU FOOOOOOO GAI YOU!"). Then it went to pronouncing our names in Cantonese and whatnot.
AND THEN...
Remember, years back during one of my CNY posts, I was talking about this tongue twister about how a chicken was crossing the road and crossing the border looking for an accountant? WE IMPROVED ON THAT TONGUE TWISTER. IT IS NOW MORE COMPLICATED, CRAZY AND LOLTASTIC.
IT GOES LIKE SO~
The oldest Chia sister borrowed and umbrella to shade all the chickens that headed over there to cross the road to cross the border to find the accountant who said "Thank you"
AND I CHALLENGE YOU PEOPLE TO DO THIS. OR YOU COULD TOTALLY GET YOUR PARENTS TO DO IT.
TO MAKE THINGS EASIER, I SHALL GIVE YOU THE ROUGH ANGLICIZED VERSION OF IT TO GUIDE YOU.
"Zhe ZHE zhe ba zhe ZHE gor gor kai gor bin dou gor GAIE gor GAAIIIEEEE wan wui gai si gong do zhe"
GO FOR IT.
Anyway, I splurged on a book (Stephen Fry in America) and stationary (Like I always do when I'm given the opportunity to in Singapore) and I'm feeling happier now.
ANYHOW, PO LINN~ I, TOO, WAS HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN. AND TO DELIVER THE NGAAAAAP. IT IS GOOD TO HEAR THAT YOU'LL BE BACK FOR CHRISTMAS, BECAUSE THEN WE CAN WREAK MORE HAVOC INVOLVING BICYCLES, SQUASH, CANTONESE TONGUE TWISTERS TO BE FORCED UPON OUR PARENTS. RANDOM THOUGHT - IS IT POSSIBLE TO CYCLE TO TMCC AND PLAY SQUASH THERE? HAHAHAHA.
Sleep now. College tomorrow.

I need a good pick me up.
And I need some direction.
Sigh.
Remember, almost a month ago, I whined about my SAT Essay? I WAS RIGHT. I SCREWED IT UP. BADLY.
I MEAN, THIS *IS* THE FIRST ESSAY I EVER SCORED 5/12 FOR. 5/12. PATHETIC, I TELL YOU. My writing confidence has taken a blow. Sigh. I did hope for a 3/6. And I did. For ONE marker. AIH. I'll wait for July 6 for my full score report.
SO, I thank the Lord that Cornell and Georgetown don't take Writing scores into consideration (There's this saying - You may not get into the college you WANT, but you may be getting into the college you NEED). Besides, I may miss the cut for the AVERAGE, but there's still all those awesome students with below average SAT Writing scores, right? I mean, I am in the top 5% for Critical Reading (HA!).
So the verdict is:
Critical Reading: 700/800 Maths : 660/800 (The uncounted section must've been my better Maths section) Writing: 510/800 (WOE), with MCQs at 56/80 and Essay at 5/12. MY ESSAY PULLED ME DOWN SO BAD.
NATIONAL PERCENTILE (I dunno out of how many) Critical Reading: 95% (= I'm in the top 5%) Maths: 88% (Top... 12%) Writing: 55% (MIDDLE. Sigh. Only better than 55% of the people in there)
I hit the averages for CR and Maths for Cornell and Georgetown admissions, just missed the Columbia/Princeton average for Maths and Writing? Don't even need to TALK about it.
I WILL STILL TRY, THOUGH. BECAUSE THOSE ARE AVERAGES. FOR EVERY 2400/2400 SCORER IN HARVARD/COLUMBIA/THE IVY LEAGUE, THERE WILL BE A PERSON ADMITTED WITH 1600.
I want to go home now. Will blog when I'm home. Sigh.

FOR ME TO GET OFF MY ASS AND START WORKING.
THINGS I NEED TO DO: - Find answers for Bio. Dissecting kidney tomorrow! - Get the proposal for Bio experiment ready by Friday for the experiment next week. - Econs research. No idea what I have to do... yet. But I will, soon. - Maaaaaaaaaaathsihatemaths):
WHAT I DID TODAY: I had 3 breaks (again) today - 8am-9am, 11am-12pm (Normal lunch. Had lunch with Sigma people at AC! I miss them all so much. <3), and 1pm-2pm because I didn't have LAN again. So I went to AC (again) to play pool for a while with Jo Zee, Chooi Si, Xueli, Sung, Nadra, Edmond and Lucas (Who skipped class. Hahahaha).
And now, I'm in the library... going to do my work.
Will be home at 6pm. I hope.
Also, as mentioned previously, my sister's back from Perth, and I have a cool Cirque du Soleil wristband thing! "MY WRISTBAND'S BETTER THAN YOURS". I'm kidding.
PS. I just saw a secret on Fandom!Secrets - it was a picture of Amber/CTB, and it was captioned, "SHE'S MY BITCHSPIRATION". Heeee.

I'm home! Some random thoughts while I was trying to think up of an example of microeconomic reform for, well, Economics in the library today... - I completely forgot to pimp this meme on my LJ. You can comment in the post. If you don't want to sign in to any accounts, just drop your name in so I know it's you! :D - I'm done with the main chunk of my ESL internal assessment - now just a bit more to go. - Next Econs test is on 3 July. MUST... DO... WELL! - My labcoat has this unsightly chemical stain on the left sleeve. I want to send it to wash, but I'm dissecting kidney on Thursday. - Wimbledon approaching. I MISS JUSTINE. :( - Why are all my favourite Belgian football players GOING TO THE WRONG TEAM? First, Kompany joins Manchester City (Heee, Kompany used to play for Anderlecht and somehow knows Justine. Too bad he left Anderlecht when Justine had that football thingamajig), now Vermaelen joins Arsenal. AIH. OOH. BUT I SEE THAT THERE'S A BELGIAN PLAYING FOR MANCHESTER UNITED. Mruahahaha. As long as Van Buyten doesn't go anywhere (He's perfectly fine in Bayern), I don't mind Fellaini being in Everton. While I'm still on topic, I wonder where are the Mpenza brothers. One of them was playing in the Premier League, I think. - I can't believe I was just talking about football. Must've been the Justine influencing those random Belgium thoughts. - MY PRINTER. I WANT TO SMASH IT. - It sounds like I'm going down to Singapore this weekend. Yay, Singapore! - Min Shen, you haven't posted penance on CAPSLOCKPERSON yet. - I am now off to update my class blog.
