1. My finals start tomorrow But before you squeal in joy and happiness, it's not mine, it's my Dad's. Still can't wait for my own laptop, though, whenever THAT'S coming. Oh, and it's November. I think I'll only participate in NaNoWriMo next year, when I have MY OWN LAPTOP. Handwriting about 15k (Or was it 150k?) words and then retyping them out would be a pain in the ass. So yes, anyway... ARE YOU INTERESTED IN READING ABOUT WHAT I WAS LIKE WHEN I WAS 3? I know I am. So here's a letter from my aunt to my parents, when I was living for a while in Singapore back in 1994. Complete with new Person They're Referring To notes. Bahaha. Here it goes... Dear brother [Dad's name] & [Mum's name], I'm glad to hear that you've settled down in Australia. Is the apartment very near to the hospital? By the way, you have not told me the name of the hospital! Is the weather okay? How is Ying adjusting to the new environment and weather? How is she taking the several tests (medical)? [Mum's name] says that the bone marrow transplant will be carried out on 26 Oct 1994 if everything turns out okay. Is that correct? Please keep me updated on her progress. Ling Ling has settled down with us very well. On Friday, they arrived at about 5pm. We brought them out for dinner in the evening, came home, cut my birthday cake and retired to bed early. On Saturday, Jo (sis-in-law) came to pick Mum (My grandmother, obviously) up for a session of mahjong at 4th brother's house. Initially, your little one wanted to follow Mum, but after playing with Li Li (My cousin) for a while she was prepared to let Mum go without any fuss. We went to 4th brother's house later in the afternoon. She did not ask for Mum at all! She is getting along real fine with my two girls. They think she's very cute. Before going to the party I brought her down for a swim in the pool. Her cousins were having their swimming lessons at the same time. She enjoyed herself so much that she refused to get out of the pool and stayed there for 1 1/2 hours! Naturally she slept very well that night. She enjoyed herself thouroughly at I Ming's (Older cousin) party, following her cousins around. Whenever I introduced her to her cousins she would nod her head and greet them, but when it came to Yong Ni's (Another older cousin) turn, she shook her head very hard and said "No!" several times when I said that Yong Ni is her cousin! Yong Ni was heartbroken. On Saturday, 4th sis-in-law came to Landmark for her mahjong session. 1st sis-in-law did not come until dinnertime because she was moving house that day. She has relocated to an apartment at one of the Lorongs in Telok Kurau, pending renovation of her house. I have not been there yet. In the afternoon I brought all the children down for a swim. After an hour I took Li Li and your little one up because Li Li was not feeling too good. Your little one cried when I did not bring her down again and was so angry with me that she refused to let me bath her! She asked for Auntie (my maid Anna) to bath her. After her bath Anna tried to pat her to sleep but I told her not to do that because I did not want Ling to get into the habit of being patted to sleep. I put her on a mattress next to the mahjong table so she could see Mum and she fell asleep within seconds. She's amazing! Can you imagine sleeping in the midst off all that noise? I am also trying to train her to eat on her own. She can do it and she eats quite fast too (especially when all the cousins are around), but when Mum is around she tends to rely on Mum to feed her. Well, let's see if I can ween her in time. She has no difficulty drinking water from a mug except when she is drinking milk. I think she does not like milk very much. She spent Monday playing with Li Li. Mum and Dad went out in the morning with cousin [I can't read the name. Yin Ching? Dunno. Anyway]. I did not let her bring Ling along because it was very hot. That afternoon she slept with Li Li in our house. So you see that you don't have to worry about Ling at all! Have to go now. Cheerio. Will write to you again. ------------------------------------------------- Anyway, some comments - 1. Yes, I sleep under mahjong tables. Yes, I sleep when it's noisy. Basically, I sleep anywhere/anytime/whenever I want to sleep. Hope that amused you. Will be posting again soon, I guess. You know me - I blog more frequently when I'm taking exams than when I'm not. 10 days til I don't take Chemistry and hopefully, Math any more! |
